As part of the company’s corporate responsibility Walmart runs the Walmart Associate Scholarship Program created to assist associates participating in the Walmart Lifelong Learning Program and enrolling at American Public University and for associates (employees) attending all other accredited institutions of postsecondary education.
To be eligible for the Walmart Associate Scholarship applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
-must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident of the United States;
- must be a part-time or full-time employee with any division of Walmart for at least six consecutive months prior to the appropriate application due date;
- must have graduated from high school/home school or obtained a GED before applying or be a graduating high school senior planning to enter a college or university upon graduation;
- graduating high school senior must wait to apply until you are within 6 months of starting your college courses;
- must have financial need backed by the required documents.
It should be noted that students with other funds that pay entirely for tuition, books, fees, and on-campus room and board are not eligible.
To apply for the Walmart Associate Scholarship Program the applicants must follow the instructions provided in the Program Guidelines, register the program and take the eligibility quiz.
There are limits on funding that a Walmart Associate Scholarship recipient can get per fiscal year. The recipient of the Certificate Program (undergraduate or graduate) can get up to $1,500 within a single Walmart Fiscal Year, Associate’s Degree up to $2,000 within a single Walmart Fiscal Year, Bachelor’s Degree up to $3,000 and Graduate Degree up to $2,000 within a single Walmart Fiscal Year.
The Walmart Associate Scholarship recipients are selected based on their complete applications. Associate must be employed at the time of award and should meet all eligibility criteria. The applications will be evaluated by an independent selection committee that will select the winners considering financial need and community involvement of the applicants. All decisions of the selection committee are final and are not subject to appeal.
