Strategies
All strategies used by Pathways to Success are researched-based. Also, classroom teachers who implement strategies in their classrooms for their students to utilize are first trained by their building's Instructional Coach. Many of the strategies offer additional reading, writing, problem solving, and information processing skills that are needed for academic success.
Tutoring
Depending on the school needs, students are offered Strategic Tutoring (Hock, 1998), which is one-on-one researched-based tutoring either during or after school. In some schools Strategic Tutoring is also paired with the AVID Program for students who are college-bound and seeking additional academic preparation at school. Students come in contact with tutors who are trained in Strategic Tutoring and have knowledge in the college-preparation process.
College Field Trips
Depending on the school needs and classroom curriculum, students throughout the school year are offered the chance to visit a local college campus. Many of these campus visits are arranged between the teachers, Instructional Coaches, and Family School Coordinators. Various types of post-secondary education intuitions are visited, ranging from vocational schools and four-year colleges.
